Good Bye BT. We love you so much.

BT came home with us from the Shelter in Moses Lake at 6 months of age and we never could understand why he was an owner release because he was so perfect and loving.
BT was called Bob at the shelter because he is a natural short tail cat but We changed it to BT  for Bob Tail so we would not have two Bob's in the same house.  This was in October of 2005.
In December pf 2005,  our first foster liter of pups came and BT decided it was his job to teach pups how to interact with cats.     He seemed to know what dogs were dangerous but pups needed to be taught to be good with cats.
BT loved to go hunting but it was not for the kill,  he would bring in the mice and birds and turn them loose to be his pets.  He never did understand why I would panic when I say his pets.     Anika,  the pup in this picture stayed with us.   BT and Anika have always had a close bond.

One of BT's favorite activities was watching TV with Bob  and the other was taking a nap with Bob.  He was very social and all the cats loved him,  even the feral cats that were dumped a few years ago.

Pookie and Sherman are watching BT who is watching Bob weed eating.

Two years ago,  a kitten was found under our rear porch.  she was only 9 ounces and very dehydrated but her teeth said 10 weeks.    BT immediately took charge of cleaning her and teaching her how to be a playful kitten.   El Cee is now 2 years old and BT did a wonderful job of raising her.

Recently one of the original feral cats dumped had a litter of kittens and only one survived.    He is only 11 weeks old now.     3 weeks ago we brought the kitten ( I had been feeding it and playing with it in the shop  but could not get near the mother cat )  into the house and BT took charge again.

Then last Friday the Neighbor's 3 dogs came into our property and caught BT.   They were throwing him in the air.   Wayde went out to stop them  and rushed BT to the Vet as we were in Wenatchee buying Dog and cat food.     BT seemed to rally some on Saturday but then started going down hill again.   He got to come home for a short while.

Sunday morning I could see he was not doing well and took him to the Pioneer Vet. Clinic.    He was put on both IV and Oxygen.   They found that he was so badly bruised inside that his organs were shutting down.  This morning  ( Monday  June 3rd, )  I said my good byes to our super special,  wonderful cat and he went to sleep in my arms.       We will never forget him and have been blessed to have him as part of our lives.

BT,  your spirit will stay with us and we will still feel your love every day.   You brought so much joy to us and we will treasure every minute we had with you.
Love you sooooooooooooo much.

  1. Bob and Pat, I have been checking FB frequently to hear news of your special friend. I was so hoping for different news than this. My heart just aches for you. Your BT was blessed with a significant purpose in life and seemed to fulfill it quite well. Bless his sweet heart....and yours too. My continued prayers will be with you at this difficult time. Take good care! Maggie

  2. So sorry Pat and Bob. BT was such a great cat and how fortunate he was to have been brought home from the shelter with you and have such a wonderful life where he was so loved and cherished.

  3. I am so sorry for your great loss! He was an adorable little man!

Pamela ~ mom to 7 sweet cats.

  4. So sorry. He was loved and cherished and given a good life. I know how hard it is. Big hug. xo

  5. I'm so sad to hear that BT didn't make it through this terrible attack. I'm so very loss for your loss of such a wonderful cat. He lived such a great life with you both and all your fosters, both cat and dog. That'll do BT.

  6. So very sorry for your loss. He really sounded like a great cat. Yes, that will do BT.

  7. If we're lucky, we are blessed with a cat like BT. While these cats bring us incredible blessings, their passings hit us harder than most. There are no good words to share at times like this, but please know that you have my deepest sympathy in your loss.

“Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal.”

May you find healing in your tears and love in your memories.
